Empyrean Benefit Solutions

Empyrean is a leading SaaS company that streamlines employee benefit experiences for over 6.5 million people, including brands such as Whole Foods, Rolls Royce, Michelin, San Francisco 49ers, among others.

When I was asked to help strengthen their brand identity through a new logo animation in summer 2025, I was thrilled.

2/3 - SUPPORTING TRANSITIONS

The logo animation was very well received; so much so, that I was then asked to design and create supporting transition animations; clean left/right/up/down motions that paired seamlessly with the visual style of the logo animation.

1/3 - LOGO ANIMATION

Their logo is packed with hidden meaning:

  • A hand representing service and assistance.

  • Three horizontal “E” lines symbolizing physical documents associated with benefits and the shift to digital administration.

  • The name itself, empyrean — literally “a guiding light.

Our collaboration was a great opportunity to probe and ask relevant, calibrated questions to uncover what makes their logo special and what Empyrean wanted to communicate in the animation. Through this, the creative team gave me very clear do’s and don’ts: for example, the kaleidoscope, a core brand motif, needed to be included.

Using After Effects, I built a flagship logo animation that honored all guidelines while feeling dynamic and alive.

3/3 - LOOPING LOBBY VIDEO

(shown below)

The project expanded further: I also created a nearly 8-minute looping animation for Empyrean’s lobby screens.

This content, built from over 70 unique, seamlessly flowing animations, was focused on rhythm and endurance. Both the logo animation and the lobby loop shared the same design DNA, but served very different roles within the Empyrean-verse.

Excerpts from the “Loop” video can bee seen below. Original images have been swapped for stock images for confidentiality.
